I am always so grateful to partner with brands that are doing amazing things for the environment, and I’m constantly impressed by their Beyond Plastic initiative (the entire company will be 100% plastic-free by 2025)! #grovepartner If you didn’t already know, Michael and I just moved into a 3 bedroom 3 bathroom apartment in NYC and we’re currently settling in and doing a LOT of cleaning. The owners of this apartment were kind enough to let us keep some of their rugs and also their bed-frame! This made moving a lot easier, but it also meant that we had a lot of DEEP cleaning to do once we arrived. On moving day, I only had about 10 minutes to film an empty apartment walk-through before the movers arrived with all of our stuff. This was my attempt at an empty home tour 2021! I walked through the 3 bedrooms: the master, the nursery and the office where Michael and I will set up two desks and create a shared office space...and I also showed you the living room, kitchen & dining area. This was my designated cleaning day to tackle the kitchen, the bathrooms (TOILETS), the rugs, and even the garbage disposal...so come along with me while I clean and then also give you a sneak peek at some of the apartment furnishings we’ve been doing. We are still waiting on a lot of furniture pieces to ship since so much was back ordered and delayed, but things are coming along with the stuff we already have. In the living room, we used the same couch from our last apartment, got a new coffee table, and kept the rug from the apartment owners. The view here is very different with trees and a garden as opposed to our standard New York City view of the Empire State Building. It feels so homey and quiet...very different from the West Village vibes. We feel like this is the perfect place to start our family. The kitchen is my favorite spot in the apartment with a big window above the sink and gold trim on the stove hood & the oven. I can’t wait to see how it all comes together after everything gets organized and put away properly. We kept the dining table from the apartment's owners (it works great with their built-in banquette), and we brought the kitchen chairs from our last apartment. In the master bedroom, we already have our bed set up and it is so bright and fun. The room has a very calming vibe with the owners’ wallpaper & bed frame, and we are waiting on new nightstands to be delivered. There are a lot of cabinets and storage space in the bedroom as well as a walk-in closet. I have already gone through and organized all my clothes so everything looks amazing & tidy! For the nursery, we are using the same rug that we had in our old apartment’s living room - the one with the retro wave look! It goes great with the black and white graphic wallpaper that is already on the walls. The room has three small closets and a bathroom with a tub (so perfect for a little baby!). The last room is our office! Now that Michael works remotely, we needed an office space large enough for the two of us. We got two identical desks facing one another with the same desk chair, and we installed the same white shelves from our last apartment’s entryway. There is still a lot more that we want to do with this space but we plan on keeping an earthy, neutral vibe with a TON of plants! So far, my mom and I have styled a “first draft” and I think it looks great.
